    Mangalore is a town on the western coast of India. The town derives its name from the local deity, Mangala Devi. The climate in Mangalore is hot and humid. It rains pretty heavily from June to September. The major sources of income are fishing, arecanut cultivation and of course money from the Middle East. Mangalore is well connected to the rest of the country through air, rail and road. Mangalore is the home town of several leading banks like Corporation Bank, Vijaya Bank and Karnataka Bank. The population is equally split between Hindus, Christians and Muslims. The various languages spoken here are Kannada, Tulu, Konkani & Beary.
